What is B2B?

Often coined a marketing term, B2B or business-to-business, is a way for a company to market their product or services to another company. It involves direct sell from one business to another. B2B (business-to-business) has one of the largest markets and is made up of products and services that aren't usually used by consumers, but mainly for other businesses to purchase.

How it works

B2B marketing is similar to that of consumer marketing (B2C) because they use the same strategies. The only real difference is that consumers buy products and services based on their special interest, whereas, B2B buyers make decisions based on profit margins.

Strategies

The reason for B2B marketing is to help the company's efforts in bringing in more revenue. Strategies to achieve this would include a high concentration in the sales department, a well as advertising, public relations, direct mail, trade shows, and other tactics to market a particular product or service from one business to another business.

To my way of thinking

For an organization or for individuals that have a business looking to sell products of services to another business, B2B can help you to understand better the differences of the markets from business to consumer (B2C). However, for the average person, looking to purchase or sell a product or service to an everyday user, B2B might not be as adequate a tool to use, so I don't recommend B2B marketing in that case. B2B or business to business is a market where sales would flourish best with a good marketing strategy to help sell among large companies.
