Why You Should Use a Note-Taking App

One of the best tools I use for content creation is the Notes app on my smartphone. I use an iPhone, which comes with the Notes app from Apple. Android users can use Google Keep, and Microsoft offers a free download on iPhones and Android of Microsoft OneNote. Any note application will work; if you prefer, you can use a pen and paper, but use one notebook, so all your notes are in one place.

The purpose of a notebook or note app is to jot down ideas as they occur to you. Getting ideas for content is easy for some people and a real challenge for others. But regardless of how good you are at coming up with ideas for content, having a list of ideas is a valuable resource.

Anytime you think of something that would make a good newsletter article, blog post, or social media piece, jot it down in your notes, so you don't lose it. You can decide if it's the next idea for your content or if you have a better one, but starting a list of ideas will become invaluable as you create and publish content about yourself, your organization, and your products or services.

Start using a notebook, electronic or paper, to build a list of ideas for content when they occur to you. Then, when you are ready to start creating the content, you'll have a list of ideas to pick from.
