Golden Nugget 119: Add Format Instructions to Your AI Prompt
The Golden Nugget
Tell the AI exactly how you want the answer organized, not just what you want it to write.
Why It Helps
Clear format instructions make the response easier to read, use, and copy. They can also reduce unnecessary details.
How To Do It
-
Write your main request.
-
Add the format you want.
-
Include limits such as length, tone, or number of items.
For example:
“Explain online banking safety in plain language. Use a short title, five bullet points, and a one-sentence summary.”
You can also ask for a table, a checklist, numbered steps, an email, an outline, or a social media post.
Bobology Boost
Don't just tell AI what to create—tell it what the finished answer should look like.
