Facebook Fan Pages Changing to Timeline View March 30

Printer-Friendly Format

The new format changes the layout and removes some options that were available for customization.  The Facebook Page shown above shows not only the Profile image which was previously used, but a large graphic image referred to by Facebook as the ‘cover photo.” The “About” information text appears below the Profile Image on the left, and the applications appear as icons to the right.  Wall Posts appear in the left and right columns, while the right column is used for any NewsFeed from other Pages.

New features are available which allow a Page admin to:

  •  Star stories to make them larger and more visible
  •  Pin a specific post to appear at the top of the post list
  •  Add milestones and mark key events
  •  Arrange views and apps below the cover photo

Facebook removed the ability to use a custom landing Page, often used on Pages to block access to a Page's content until the user “liked” the Page. After March 30 all Pages will be migrated to the new Timeline layout and the Timeline view will be the only view allowed. This emphasizes the content and stories on the Page, which is what builds engagement.

For specifics on using the new layout read this FREE downloadable guide.
